James Prendergast Library

I ordered four copies of my book last week and received them yesterday. I immediately took two copies and jumped in my car and headed to the James Prendergast Library in Jamestown, NY. I wanted to donate them to the children's section.

I walked in and told one of the librarians that I had written the book and wanted to give them two copies. She told me to wait while she got the head librarian for the kids section. I waited. The head librarian came out and we talked. I was explaining about "Add Your Own Art Children's Books" when she said that wouldn't be good because they don't like kids drawing in the books. Well I can understand that. I did tell her that that was the whole idea   behind this line of books.

She said it would probably work if they did it as story time and then they could draw a few pages. I asked her if she would email me pictures or photo copies of the drawings and I would post them on my blog. She said she would and I gave her my information.

Those pictures won't be posted for a while, because they are on the last story time until school starts. I will be posting them as soon as they start coming in.

Ramblings

For several days now I have been sitting at my laptop trying to market my book. I joined APsense when I first started writing my book. I've been joining just about every marketing site I can find. I bought a domain name and have it pointed to this blog.

If you've read any of my blog posts you know that I also drive a school bus. This summer is the third summer I haven't worked so I have no resources to fund much in the line of marketing. It would help if I could get some people to review my book. I'm not the sort of person who feels comfortable with begging.

I've read that I should be reviewing other author's books and then in turn they might review mine. This would all have to be done digitally, because I don't have any way to send a physical copy of my book to anyone or buy a copy of their book. Plus, what if I find their book lacking? What if they find my book lacking...something?
