My On Going Battle For Health

I'm not sure where I should start this saga. Should I start by
telling you how I felt when I weighed 266 pounds? Should I start when I had found out that eating raw foods made it so I could lose weight easily? It's not as easy as it sounds though. Cooked food has a hold on me. Raw food doesn't give off an aroma like cooked food does. I've fought for a couple of years to get back on track with the whole raw food lifestyle.

In December of 2012 I had to have a medical check so I could keep driving school bus. My blood pressure was up and so was my blood sugar (checked with a text strip). Right now driving is what brings in the money. I don't believe in going to doctors unless I'm injured, so I had to take things in my own hands or should I say mouth?

I believe all dis-eases are food related. It's been an ongoing battle since January. I weighed 225 pounds when I started this leg of my weight loss journey. I've gone up and down since I started, but I'm getting there. I would be where I wanted to be if I could stay focused and not over eat cooked food when it cries out to me.

Food is all around us. Television is the worst of all. When my life isn't at it's best, that's when I lose the battle, I don't care what I eat, I just eat...ice cream sCREAMs my name when I'm angry, sad, or hurt.

I am at 190 pounds now. I will be where I want to be after I lose another 60 pounds. I'm slowly getting back to eating the way I need to eat to get healthy. I will keep you posted as this journey continues.

Things Are Getting Better

This school year is almost over. The bus is fairly peaceful now. The school hired a "Behavioral Specialist" and she has made a huge difference in the atmosphere on the bus. My monitor and I were skeptical to say the least, but we are happy now with the changes on our bus.

I have neglected this blog over this school year, not to mention my new book. There are only so many things a person can do in any given day.

I want to tell you about something else that has taken me away from my writing. I became a grandmother in June of last year and once again in January of this this year. Both of my grandsons were born premature. My first grandson was five weeks premature and my second grandson was four weeks premature, but both babies were healthy. Thank God!

There was a problem with my second grandson's feet though. He was born with club feet. My daughter, grandson, and I have been going to Shriner's Hospital in Erie, PA. for a little over four months now to straighten his little feet. I'm amazed at how the straightening is done. This whole process could take two to three years to complete.

My grandson's feet have straightened up quite nicely, but his heel isn't where it's supposed to be. We have to go to Shriner's Hospital once a week for I don't know how long, it all depends on the little guy's progress.

I hope to do some writing on my new book and on this blog starting now.
